Unakite – Green and rosé in natural balance
Split
Unakite looks as if nature had deliberately placed two colors side-by-side: a calm olive to moss green and a warm salmon to rose red, with fine, light-colored sections in between. No two beads are alike, and yet the whole is surprisingly harmonious. Especially now in autumn, these tones go wonderfully with wool, corduroy, and leather. As a bracelet, Unakite is an easygoing companion for every day, for women and men alike.
A rock made of three minerals
Mineralogically, Unakite is not a single mineral but a rock, specifically a metamorphosed granite. It owes its colors to three components: the green comes from epidote, the pink to salmon red from potassium feldspar (orthoclase), and the light, partly grayish inclusions are quartz. How these three mix determines the appearance of every single bead: sometimes the green prevails, sometimes the rose, sometimes a finely speckled mixture is created.
Unakite gets its name from the Unaka Mountains in the southeastern United States, where the rock was first described. With a hardness of about 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale, it is quite resistant and can be ground well into round, highly polished beads. This makes it an ideal stone for bracelets that are worn often and with pleasure.
Origin: Unakite from South Africa
At Tiger Treasure, we specify the origin of our pieces. The Unakite in our bracelet comes from South Africa. Because every bead is ground from natural stone, color distribution and patterns vary slightly. Your bracelet will therefore never look exactly like the one in the photo, but rather very similar, just with its own unique character.
The Unakite bracelet is handcrafted in Luxembourg, in a tradition dating back to 1890. Both versions are 19 cm long. If you need a different length, we will adjust the bracelet to your desired size free of charge. Shipping to Germany, Austria, France, and Luxembourg is free.
Balance and life energy: the symbolism
Green and pink, two colors that are actually opposites and yet, in Unakite, are inseparably intertwined. It is no wonder that the stone stands for balance and life energy in traditional symbolism. Many see it as a symbol of equilibrium: the calm and the vibrant, retreat and departure, united in one stone. These are traditional meanings, not promises of effect. A Unakite bracelet can simply be a small reminder on your wrist to treat yourself to a little more balance in everyday life.
Unakite at Tiger Treasure
Our Unakite bracelet is available in two bead sizes. Both are stretch bracelets without a clasp, so they can be easily slipped over the hand, and both are designed for women and men:
- Unakite Bracelet 6 mm (South Africa): finely proportioned beads, elegant and discreet, the versatile all-rounder. Stretch, 19 cm. €24.90.
- Unakite Bracelet 8 mm (South Africa): larger beads with a more striking presence on the wrist, the stone's pattern is showcased particularly beautifully here. Stretch, 19 cm. €29.90.
How to wear Unakite
The 8 mm version looks particularly harmonious on men, worn alone with a watch with a leather strap or combined with a dark bracelet made of onyx, lava stone, or wood. For women, the 6 mm version works well when stacked, for example next to a fine gold or silver chain or together with a second Unakite bracelet. Both sizes together also make a beautiful, casual duo. In terms of color, Unakite likes earthy, natural tones around it: cream, camel, olive, brown, denim, or a warm gray. Paired with a white shirt or a light knit sweater, the green-rose becomes a subtle color accent.
Care: uncomplicated, but with care
Unakite is a robust stone, yet it still appreciates some attention. Take off the bracelet before applying perfume, cream, or hairspray, and only put it back on once everything has been absorbed. A soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient for cleaning; dry well afterwards. You should avoid cleaning agents, ultrasonic baths, and chemicals. Because it is a stretch bracelet, it is best to roll it over your hand rather than pulling it wide apart. It is better to take it off for sports, in the sauna, and while swimming. It is best stored in a soft pouch or its own box, separated from hard stones and metals.
Unakite as a gift
Unakite is a gift with a quiet message. It suits people who love nature and earthy colors, who are just starting a new chapter, or who long for a little more peace in their daily lives. At €24.90 and €29.90 respectively, it is a lovely gift for a birthday, as a thank you, or as a couple's bracelet: 6 mm for her, 8 mm for him, or the other way around depending on taste. Each bracelet is unique due to the natural pattern of the stone, handcrafted in Luxembourg with genuine Unakite from South Africa and a tradition dating back to 1890.
